This first photo is a close up of my fountain ($20 for a pump placed in a bird bath &#8212; DIVINE!). I highly recommend fountains to everyone.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"fountain\" id=\"image26\" src=\"http:\/\/rachele.rosi-kessel.org\/weblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2006\/09\/fountain_2.JPG\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I was happiest with my watermelon (which was planted as an afterthought). I had run out of fresh cultivated soil but still had some watermelon seeds. I tucked them in among the perennials and they really took off! The one in the photo is about the size of a large grapefruit. It tasted delicious!<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"image29\" alt=\"watermelon\" src=\"http:\/\/rachele.rosi-kessel.org\/weblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2006\/09\/watermelon.JPG\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/rachele.rosi-kessel.org\/weblog\/?p=13\">Bean Harp<\/a> didn&#8217;t do so well. Peas grew on it, and a grape vine (photo below), but the beans never really took off.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" id=\"image32\" alt=\"harp_grape.JPG\" src=\"http:\/\/rachele.rosi-kessel.org\/weblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2006\/09\/harp_grape.JPG\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I think the reason the Harp didn&#8217;t do so well was because the trees I cut to make the Harp refused to die and kept sending off shoots like this one:<img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Tree shoot on Harp\" id=\"image28\" src=\"http:\/\/rachele.rosi-kessel.org\/weblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2006\/09\/Harp_shoot.JPG\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Finally, I was happy with my basil and cherry tomatoes &#8212; easy to grow and tasty!<img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"basil\" id=\"image24\" src=\"http:\/\/rachele.rosi-kessel.org\/weblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2006\/09\/basil.JPG\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"cherry tomatoes\" id=\"image25\" src=\"http:\/\/rachele.rosi-kessel.org\/weblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2006\/09\/cherry_tomatos.JPG\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>For those who are interested, here are 6 photos of how my garden did this year.
